Marriage time in bollywood: Isha Koppikar weds Timmy Narang

It’s wedding season in Bollywood. A week after Shilpa Shetty tied the knot with Raj Kundra, it was the turn of actress Isha Kopikar to exchange nuptial vows with her longtime beau Timmy Narang on Sunday.

The two got married at the ISKCON Temple in Juhu in a private ceremony that was attended by close family and friends. It was a traditional Maharashtrian style wedding that reportedly lasted for about four hours. Since the auspicious time scheduled for the wedding was 11am, it was a daytime wedding.

“I am very excited and I can't wait to get married,” Narang, a restaurateur, told reporters before entering the temple.

33-year-old Isha wore a red and yellow sari while the groom was dressed in a cream sherwani.

An official from the temple is quoted as saying: “They brought their own priest and we just provided the hall and the food. They had a booking here from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.”

A reception was later held at night at Narang’s residence.

Amir Khan so selective: won’t sign films for a year

Since the release of Ghajini in December 2008, Aamir has not signed on the dotted line for any project. In fact, Aamir had decided to take one full year off after Ghajini to rejuvenate himself .After the tough physical and emotional preparation for Ghajini, Aamir just wanted to relax and spend time with his wife and children.

That’s precisely what he has done for the last one year. But now Aamir would be taking one more year off. This next one year would be devoted to putting his three home productions in order. Says a source, “Aamir had earlier decided to take one year off. But now he has decided to extend his sabbatical by one more year. Filmmakers who have approached him with projects have been told that Aamir intends to take approximately one more year to supervise the post-production and final look of the three films that he has produced in 2009, namely Abhinay Deo’s Delhi Belly, Anushka Rizvi’s The Falling and Aamir’s wife Kiran Rao’s Dhobi Ghat.”

Aamir feels all three projects need serious fine-tuning and have been delayed because he has been busy finishing and promoting 3 Idiots. Says the source, “The only way Aamir feels his three productions can be completed and released in 2010 is if he sets aside all his own acting assignments to look into them. So he isn’t signing any films in 2010 either.”

One more honour for Rahman, Gulzar

After winning accolades around the globe for their Oscar-winning exploits, the Slumdog Millionaire trio A R Rahman, Resul Pookutty and lyricist Gulzar will be facilitated at the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK), where veteran actress Sharmila Tagore will be the guest of honour.

They would be honoured on December 11th at the coveted event in which retrospectives of Mexican director Arturo Ripsten, Japanese director Mikio Naruse, French filmmaker Jacques Tati and Malayalam director Lohitadas will also be held.

The other highlights include commemoration of 50th year of Cuban revolution with a package of nine movies from the Caribbean nation in the 'country focus' segment.

Bollywood hit maker Karan wants to work with Shahid, Deepika

Karan Johar is one among the young breed of filmmakers who has set a new trend in Bollywood. His movies be it those directed by him or produced by him have always been entertaining and enthralling.

Karan Johar, who worked with the likes of Shahrukh Khan, is a great admirer of the entertainment medium. His recent co-production venture Kurbaan starring Saif Ali Khan and Kareena is making right noise at the box office.

But Karan has a desire. In his Twitter page, the young film personality said, ' I have been inundated with tweets to make a film with Shahid and Deepika...they both are great! and would love to work with them'.

Shahid Kapoor is the latest sensation in Bollywood thanks to hits in Jab We Met and Kaminey while Deepika is going gaga with her success.

Chemistry malayalam fim review:A confused subject

Producer- Kasthuri.J
Director- Viji Tampy
Cast- Sharanya Mohan, Shilpa Bala, Mukesh, Vineeth etc.
Music- M.Jayachandran, Vinu Kiriyath
Lyrics- Bichu Thirumala
Cinematography- Sanjeev Shankar
Story, Screenplay, dialogues- Vinu Kiriyath

Director Viji Thampi seems to have forgotten the chemistry to venture into his viewers hearts, in the short interval that he had kept away from films. Here in the movie ‘Chemistry’ (written as Che-Mystery), he tries all sorts of genres often as a spine-chilling thriller, even as a horror movie and at times as a suspense movie. But every attempt in this messy palette appears muddled, as the movie fails to entertain, in most parts.

The movie is remotely based on a real life event, of the death of three plus-One students, which happened a few months back in central Kerala. But here the students are placed in a convent school, Mount Academy School, where they are found dead inside the laboratory, attempting to drink poison. SP Sreekanth (Mukesh), who is in charge of the investigation goes through the proceedings, but in the next session also enroll his niece Parvathi (Saranya Mohan) in the same school. The girl brought up in the US, shares the hostel room where one of the dead girl was in. And she starts behaving oddly as the ghost of the dead girl ‘Gowry’ (Shilpa Bala)’gets into the body of Parvathi to solve the murder mystery and to take vengeance.

In the end, we are perplexed to think why we were subjected to all those tantrums on screen, which could have been easily cleared by the handling over of a simple laptop of leads. Together with it, are the clichéd Manthravaadi and the old colourful ‘kalam’ sequences coupled with the poor dialogues. And the promised suspense and the culprit can be spotted light years away, giving all the direct clues for an observant viewer even before the half way. With no revelations in store and silly attempts to shockers with inane graphics and comedies; a potentially tremendous message oriented plot is lost completely in transition.
Inspired from the scenes of every possible horror and psychoanalysis films, Vinu Kiriyath and Viji Thampi maintains to keep the happenings racy enough to the extent that they keep on bombarding with great pace, but with little to no logic. And to maintain a comic track, Vinu has even borrowed that F’ for S’ trait of Shahid Kapoor in ‘Kaminay’ for the character of Jagathy Sreekumar, which even doesn’t entertain as the original.
And in the casting side Saranya Mohan definitely had a role of promise at her premise, but with little author backing and uniformly uneven direction, the chances goes astray though the actress had been well, all through. Shilpa Bala, Mukesh, Vineeth, Suresh Krishna and Lakshmi Priya are good in their roles while Harishree Ashokan and Jagathy, are once again wasted in unwarranted sequences.

The technical sides are better with Sanjeev Sankar's fine visuals but songs are presented in the most inappropriate places and even on silliest lyrics.
All in all, this Chemistry, failing to find the right combination to connect with the heart of the viewers, remains as another confused movie that could have been better, if the central concept had been used and presented wisely. Now it’s all up to you, whether to have a reaction of this Che-Mystery.

Jyothirmayi's answer is big no

Denying reports that she has decided to bid adieu to acting career, Jyothirmayi says she very much wants to be part of film industry and there is no questing of quitting movies.

"There is no truth in reports which claimed that I am planning to say good bye to acting. It is just a rumour. I love this profession and would like to make a mark before I quit," says the actress from Mollywood.

She adds: "It is true that I am not acting in any Tamil new film after 'Vedigundu Murugesan'. That is because I have not come across any interesting offer after that. Many offers are coming way. But I want to be part of an engrossing film which has enough importance to my character."

Saying that she is currently acting in two Malayalam movies besides a Kannada project, Jyothirmayi adds: "I am also getting ready for an abroad trip to take part in a couple of stage shows."

seetha kalyanam Movie review:jayaram,jyothika,indrajth,geethu mohandas

T K Rajeev Kumar’s much delayed movie ‘Seetha Kalyanam’ will finally see the light of the screen. The movie which was in the making for the last six years, have Jayaram and Jyothika in the lead. Produced by Revathy Kalamandhir, the movie is set in the backdrop of a Brahmin marriage that extends for many days.

The big question is how does 'My Best Friend's Wedding' look like, in a Brahmin household? It looks like 'Seetha Kalyanam', with classical music blaring in the background, plenty of laddus and jilebis being served around and marigold garlands adorning every nook and corner of the screen.

As for the theme and the plot, ‘Seetha Kalyanam’ has nothing new to offer. It’s all simple. Sreeni (Jayaram) is a software professional working in Bangalore and having a nice time with his colleagues, especially a few girls, of whom Nimisha (Jyothika) is his close friend. His marriage is fixed to Abhirami (Geethu Mohandas) in the traditional way and he travels home, to get married in the traditional Brahmin manner, in a marriage ceremony spanning seven days. His colleagues, Nimisha and her gang, reach Kerala to be part of the ceremony. As the marriage ceremony goes on, Nimisha begins to realize that she loves Sreeni. She tries not to tell him, but at last, unable to help it, she reveals it all to Sreeni. It’s then that Sreeni too realizes his love for her. The marriage ceremony is half way through. It’s from here that the plot develops.
Hey, this is ‘My Best Friend’s Wedding’, you may say. It sure is, if you look at it that way. So what? There is no rule that a film should be 100% original. (How many are, these days?) Well, the ‘My Best Friends’ Wedding’ thing apart, ‘Seethakalyanam’ is just a so so kind of film with more of flaws than merits. The proceedings seem to lag a bit or maybe too much at places and there are many things that seem unconvincing. There are some scenes well shot and some poorly executed. A couple of songs stand out in rendition as well as in picturisation while the others are unimpressive. The comedy track goes all out of control. The ambience of a traditional Brahmin marriage is partly felt and partly not. The frames are all colourful and the presence of the big mirrors works on a symbolic level too, to an extent. Too many characters, but the characterization aspect fares too poor. So, in short, ‘Seethakalyanam’ goes wrong to a great extent and the plusses don’t work out favourably either.

Performances
In the lead role, Jayaram is of course OK. His performance anyhow doesn’t stand out and the role could very well have been handled by anyone. Jyothika is good and does justice to her role. Indrajith and Geethu Mohandas are OK with their roles, though they have nothing much to do, performance-wise. Siddique does a good work of his role and shines well, but the others don’t get much to do. So many popular faces in the cast is a good thing and it’s to be mentioned that everyone does justice to his or her bit, in their respective styles. But it’s real sad to have veteran Tamil actress Manorama and the late Oduvil Unnikrishnan sans their respective voices and styles of dialogue rendition, which form part of their identity. (Well, technical reasons, quite understandable ones).
Technical aspects
Rajiv Ravi has done a great work of the cinematography, composing the frames as colourfully as possible. Art-work by Prakash Moorthy and Rasi and editing by Arun Kumar is good.
Music
Background score by Sharath jells well with the mood of the film. Of the songs, set to tune by Sreenivas, ‘Ragasudharasamayi pranayam…” stands out and is picturised well too. “Doore Doore…” is OK.
Script
Director T.K.Rajeev Kumar, who has penned the script too, has tried to do a good work of it all, but there are times when he seems to fail utterly. While some of the scenes are well-written, some of them fail to make any impact. The comedy track, woven around Janardhanan, Kalpana, Bindu Panicker, Jagadeesh and Bheeman Reghu, fall short of all standards and don’t evoke laughter at all. He has also failed on the characterization side.
Direction
There are plusses as well as minuses to speak of, when it comes to direction. The theme, though not new or different, could have made for a good, enjoyable movie, had Rajeev Kumar paid more attention to things. As of now, the minuses outweigh the plusses and the film goes all wrong.

Priyadarshan peaks up:I don't make films for multiplexes

Priyadarshan has no qualms in saying that he makes films for the common man and not for multiplex audiences. And he promises "ultimate confusion" in his latest laugh riot "De Dana Dan".

"Call it my lower middle class upbringing but I make films for the 'aam junta'. I believe films work when it's this segment of audiences that appreciate them. It's the common man that makes a film successful. That is why I don't make films for the multiplexes," Priyadarshan said

The filmmaker has once again teamed up with his favourite actors -- Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal in the comedy that releases Friday. It also stars Katrina Kaif and Sameera Reddy.

Priyadarshan is confident that "De Dana Dan" will draw crowds to theatres.

"'De Dana Dan' too cuts across all segments of audience. It doesn't just cater to A-class centres or multiplexes. It is for everyone," said the director whose "Kanchivaram" recently won a National Award.

"There are 26 characters this time around in 'De Dana Dan' and I would be the first person to say that I can never recreate the kind of ultimate confusion as evident in the film. This is a kind of film that doesn't talk story, it talks incidents. The entire film is a situation which is actually it's USP," said Priyadarshan, who has made about 60 films in his 25-year career.

"'De Dana Dan' is one of the most interesting movies that I have made. It is a good exercise for the heart in the way it has been scripted. You can't miss a single moment. If you sneeze, you would miss a shot and you would have to watch the film all over again."

Some of his hit movies include "Bhool Bhulaiyya" (2007), "Bhagam Bhag" (2006) and "Garam Masala" (2005).

"As a filmmaker, you have to look at presenting a story that connects with the audiences. When I make a 'Hera Pheri', I have to see to it that audiences feel they can be an Akshay or a Paresh or a Suniel. A common man should be able to enjoy the struggle on screen and draw real life references," he said.

"Good humour is something that everyone enjoys as long as a filmmaker doesn't take his audiences for granted. Everyone present in the auditorium comes with some basic IQ at least, so let's not try to fool him. I expect people to enjoy the film since it is an ultimate situational comedy. This is the reason why 'Malamaal Weekly' worked as well", he added.

Best music National award winner Mlayalam music director Ouseppachan to hollywood

The veteran music director Ouseppachan, who has been awarded the best for his songs in ‘Ore Kadal’, will compose some wonderful music for the new movie titled ‘Dam 999’, directed by Sohan Roy. The movie will be produced simultaneously in Hindi, English and Sanskrit.

Ouseppachan has already completed the composing session and a famous English singer will sing the songs for the movie.

The melody maker was available to the press, last week at Thrissur where he also commented that the failure of the songs of ‘Pazhassi Raja’ to climb the popularity charts could have made maestro Illayaraja to make some remarks about his dissatisfaction over the lyrics. Ouseppachan maintained that had the songs been big hits, no one could have talked about the lyrics in this length. The songs were composed a year back and were released months before and if Illayaraja had expressed this feeling earlier, then the makers of such a big budget movie could have got the opportunity to change it for the better, adds Ouseppachan whose immediate Mollywood releases includes Dileep’s ‘Bodyguard’ and ‘Aagathan’.

Malayalam film Nandanam's Tamil remake starring Prithviraj

Scenarist-turned-director Ranjith's Malayalam super hit Nandanam (2002), which was the debut film of both Prithviraj and Navya Nair, will soon be remade in Tamil by Ranjith himself. This will be the Tamil directorial debut of Ranjith, who was recently in the news for making Prithviraj-starrer Thirakkatha, reportedly a romantic film based on the life of late actress Srividya.

Produced by veteran producer Shogun Mohan, the Tamil version of Nandanam will have Prithviraj reprising his original role; it is most likely that Priyamani will be his heroine in this musical love story. The surprise element is a cameo by Dhanush as a human avatar of Lord Krishna.

The Tamil screenplay is being written by writer-director Viji, who wrote the screenplay of Mozhi and also wrote and directed Vellithirai. The shooting will start in January 2009, after Prithviraj and Priyamani complete the shooting of Mani Ratnam"s Ravana.

Nandanam revolves around young Balamani (Navya Nair in the original), an orphan who comes to Guruvayoor to work as a maidservant in a big Tharavadu (ancestral home) near Guruvayoor temple. Her employer is an old lady Unniamma (Kaviyoor Ponnamma); three other old ladies also live in the house. All she yearns for is a 'darshan' of the deity, Lord Krishna, but somehow, she never makes it to the temple although she can hear the sound of poojas and bhajans daily. Balamani shares her sorrows and worries with a picture of the idol kept in her room.

One day, Balamani has a dream of marrying a man of high status. She feels that this is what her lord has in store for her and she starts believing in her dream. Into this sitution arrives Manu (Prithviraj), Unniamma's only grandson, to spend few days with his grandmother before going abroad to pursue his studies. Balamani realises that he is the man of her dreams.

Balamani and Manu soon fall in love despite Balamani's reservations about their difference in status. However, their happiness does not last long, as Manu's widowed mother Thankam (Revathy) fixes his wedding with her friend"s daughter. It is too late when Manu confesses his love to his mother. Manu and Balamani decide to part ways not to hurt his mother"s feelings.

Balamani finds it really difficult to forget her dream and strives hard to hide her grief. But Unni (Aravindan), the man living next door understands her feelings and constantly assures that her miracles do happen and dreams are achievable. Will Balamani's dreams come true? That constitutes the rest of the story.

Malayalam film Veettilekkulla Vazhi starring Prithviraj

The 2010 upcoming Malayalam film Veettilekkulla Vazhi will give the chocolate hero of Malluwood a new face of serious role. The action – drama genre Mollywood film Veettilekkulla Vazhi directed by Baiju will be co-starred by Prithvi’s brother Indrajit and the experienced actor Nedumudi  Venu.  The director of Veettilekkulla Vazhi says that the new Prithviraj film Veettilekkulla Vazhi release will be in 2010.

In Veettilekkulla Vazhi we will meet a boy who has been jailed from his birth itself in New Delhi. Veettilekkulla Vazhi story is about a doctor who tries hard to rescue the imprisoned boy of Veettilekkulla Vazhi and lead him home. The name given to the movie is exactly apt to the story of the upcoming film of Prithviraj in 2010. It becomes a tragic film in 2010 as the father of the boy Mr. Razak is the terrorist who was a cause to make the doctor and many others victims of terrorism. The doctor in Veettilekkulla Vazhi starts his task of finding the father of the boy in the film.
Prithviraj recently held a press meet at Thiruvananthapuram press club in which he said"The biggest limitation of Malayalam cinema today is that our films are not cosmopolitan as they seldom cater to an audience outside Kerala. The only way we can overcome our language barrier is by making our films more cosmopolitan, by inculcating other cultures and languages and different themes. Veettilekkulla Vazhi is such a venture".
The music director of Veettilekkulla Vazhi, Ramesh Narayanan may bring us a great treat of loveable music in Veettilekkulla Vazhi and Prithviraj will have a great time of showing off his talents in this upcoming Malayalam film in 2010. The release of Veettilekkulla Vazhi will change the future of Prithviraj in South Indian film industries.

Mollywood Superstar Mohanlal in Bollywood again with priyanka chopra

Priyanka Chopra has found her first husband (Ok! Screen husband.), Malayalam actor Mohanlal, for Vishal Bhardwaj’s comedy 7 Husbands. There are six more to go.

Vishal Bharadwaj is music director and noted film maker of Omkara and Kaminay fame, came to meet our superstar Mohanlal and that has created news. Vishal, a die hard fan of Mohanlal flew down to our God's own country to have a small chit chat with out super star.

As per reliable sources of information, it is said that the director is coming up with a new Hindi movie where he would like to cast Mohanlal in a prominent role. It is said that this movie would be a multi-starrer with Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra in the lead roles.

Mohanlal, has earlier featured in Bollywood films such as Priyadarshan’s Yeh Teraa Ghar Yeh Meraa Ghar (2001), Ram Gopal Varma’s Company (2002), Aag (2007) and Rajkumar Santoshi’s Halla Bol (2008).

The news goes that Vishal was clean bowled by our actor’s humility and when he narrated the story of his upcoming movie, Mohanlal was deeply impressed. Our actor said that he would love to work with Vishal Bharadwaj and if things fall in place, the movie would start its shoot early march next year, provided our actor will be able to finish of his pending commitments in Malayalam.

Vishal Bhardwaj is on a look out for the six remaining male actors who will be wedded to Priyanka in the film. There were reports that Hrithik Roshan is likely to be the lead with Priyanka but there is no word yet from the Bhardwaj camp.

Filming is scheduled to begin in March 2010.

Vishal Bhardwaj and Priyanka Chopra last teamed up for Kaminey (2009) in which Priyanka and co-star Shahid Kapoor received rave reviews.

Priyanka Chopra is awaiting start of production of Siddharth Anand’s Anjaana Anjaani with co-star Ranbir Kapoor.
The film – to be shot in Bangkok, New York, San Jose, San Francisco, Las Vegas and Mumbai – will begin on December 11 and end on December 31.

We may hope that Mohanlal will make all Malayalis proud in Bollywood, we also pray that the actor would not foresake our malayal film fraternity for bollywood.

Great expectations on ‘Neelathamara’

The year expected much from Mollywood in terms of creative presentations and great debuts. The largest expectations was on ‘Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja’, which fulfilled much by becoming the greatest hit of all times in Malayalam. And now all eyes are on the other M. T. movie ‘Neelathamara’ which will grace the theatres in a week.

Directed by Lal Jose, one of the directors with large fans for his visual imagery's and narrative styles, this ‘Neelathamara’ is a remake of the 1979 hit, directed by Yusuf Ali Ketchery. The movie was restructured to suit the tastes of present day audience with a fresh bunch of cast. While Archana comes in as the heroine, the other protagonists of the movie will be played by Kailash and Suresh. Vidyasagar’s songs for the movie have already become the favorites of music lovers.

Mollywood, which have a dearth of young crowd pulling stars, will be eagerly waiting for the performances of the male heroes of the movie.

Kavya Madhavan to be the heroine of Mammootty after Pattanathil Bhootham

The latest news that is doing the rounds in the Malayalam film industry is that Kavya Madhavan might very well be Mammootty's heroine in his next film 'Pramaani'.

'Pramaani' is to be directed by B.Unnikrishnan, who had earlier directed Smart City, Madambi and IG, and the short film entitled 'Aviramam' in Ranjith's 'Kerala Cafe'.

Mammootty would play a Panchayat President by the name of Raghava Panikker in the film. As much as he is a corrupt official, Panikker retains some human goodness within, that is unearthed by a Panchayat Secretary. Kavya would be essaying this role, if reports are to be believed.

Though there hasn't been an official announcement as yet, this is expected to be a good career move by Kavya who is planning to make a come back to films. Earlier in the month, the beautiful actress had signed Joshey's Mohanlal starrer 'Christian Brothers'.

'Pramani' would also have Siddiq, Jagathy, Innocent, Suraj Venjarammoodu and Salim Kumar in key roles. Produced by B C Joshy, the film is a Surya Cinema Production.

Uthara swayamvaram Malayalam Movie,Movie Review

The duo,Jayasurya and Roma, opined as the lucky pair of Mollywood is once again romancing on the screen for the movie titled 'Uthara Swayamvaram' directed the debutante Remakanth Sarju. This pair has already given some hit movies like ‘Shakespeare MA Malayalam’, ‘Chocolate’ and ‘Minnaminnikkoottam'. Sarju's 'Uthara Swayamvaram' takes things a bit further, and blends in some fortune and at times the lack of it, to make it a plot that is flimsy at its best

Jayasurya as Prakashan, a laid back guy had always been dreaming of his childhood mate,Uthara(Roma).Uthara being the only daughter of Ponnuveettil Mahadevan (Lalu Alex), meant a lot for him with the death of his wife.Prakash (Jayasurya) has been in love with Ponnu (Roma) ever since he had rescued her from a well, while they were in school. Ponnu never reciprocates his feelings.Prakashan's father, Sreedhara Kurup, a grocer,is much worried about his son's infatuation towards Uthara. The story takes off with the engagement of Uthara to a guy from an affluent family and Prakashan trying to find alternatives to avoid the marriage to take place. With elements of surprises and plenty of twists and turns in store, the movie will be a humorous affair that will keep you engaged.

Jayasurya has hardly nothing to do in this film.He is there just because somebody needs to be around. Though Roma looks luminous, she terribly hams. Also in the cast are Balachandra Menon, Indrans, Lalu Alex, Salimkumar, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Kiranraj, Sarayu, Shobha Mohan, Janardhanan and Niyas.Cinematographed by Saalo George, the movie is edited by P C Mohanan. The music department is handled by M Jayachandran and Gireesh Puthenchery.
